Sports, scholarships and the importance of saving for the future

I can’t accurately describe who I am without talking about sports. Soccer has played such an important role in my life, and is more than just a hobby. For me, soccer has been formative – it has shaped my character, exposed me to new experiences, and opened doors to numerous opportunities.

It's "Take Your Kid to Work Day" and honestly, coming into the building, I didn’t know what to expect.  As soon as I walked into CST Consultants Inc., I could tell that there was a great community feel and everybody knew each other and were all super polite.

I also met two super cool guys, Omar and Theo, to enjoy this great experience with.

As a forty-something executive, I sometimes reflect on when I was young (and hopefully not too foolish), on how great it would have been to have had the benefit of knowing what I know now, back when I was just starting out. So, if I had the opportunity to give my younger self some advice, here’s what I would say.

As a young child, Sam Tanenbaum had nearly everyone fooled.

“When I was in grade two, I had the vocabulary of someone who was in grade 10.  I could use words, speak and tell you rhymes and ‘read’ you books - but I wasn’t actually reading,” Sam explained.

"I have a non-verbal learning disability and I’m proud to say I am Dyslexic."
