The rising costs of university tuition and fees

We hear it all the time.  “Tuition is expensive.”

The numbers prove it.  Statistics Canada has found in the past 10 years, the average university tuition has jumped from $4347 to $6373 - an increase of 46%!

That’s not the only post-secondary fee that’s on the rise.

I felt a momentary sense of panic recently, after reading that Canadians can expect the price of fresh fruits, veggies and meats to increase again this year; especially for those of us living in more remote and northern communities. Our dropping loonie is mostly to blame, forcing prices as high as $8 for a single head of cauliflower in some places!

With three kids under the age of 10 at our house, there is a lot of anticipation for Halloween every year, and let’s face it, a little dread about the potential cost of costumes.

Thankfully, there are ways we get the kids on board the DIY costume bandwagon, saving a little money and having fun.
