Helping students succeed: the reason we do what we do

Grad Awards Winners

It feels like I graduated from university just yesterday. In reality, it’s been almost 5 years since I swapped my notebooks and textbooks for a briefcase and entered the real world. I think I’m still in denial.

One of the best parts about working at CST Consultants (the distributors of Canadian Scholarship Trust Plans) is being able to help students. I’ve seen firsthand just how grateful many of them are for the funds their parents saved in their RESP, and they’re even more ecstatic to receive additional support through scholarships and bursaries.

Although my parents helped me fund my own education, I know how tough it can be to come up with tuition and still manage to pay for everything else – from student housing and textbooks to groceries and extracurriculars. The struggle is real, and having an RESP is just one way that families can offset these rising costs. Maybe if I had one I wouldn’t have had to work part-time and could have focused more on my studies.

That’s why CST awards $7,500 each year to ten students who demonstrate potential in their fields and are entering their graduate studies. We also provide two grants of $6,000 each to high school graduates who are entering their first year of post-secondary education.

Our group of 2014 recipients were so inspiring that we documented some of their stories and advice on camera. Check out the video clips below for more.
