For me, marine biology has been something I have wanted to pursue as a career before I even really appreciated what that would entail. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would always answer “marine biologist”, without fully understanding what education I would need or how I would get there.

I feel lucky and proud to be a Canadian student because our country is so diverse and accepting of everyone. Being a Canadian student gives me the opportunity to go to an institution that has all the resources I need at my fingertips, in order to succeed in my career endeavours. Throughout my education, my opinions and ideas have been welcomed by my peers and teachers, which has helped shape me in to a more confident individual. I feel privileged to have a Canadian education.

What Ontario Budget 2017 means for families starting an Registered Education Savings Plan

Starting in 2018, families in Ontario will no longer need to worry about holding a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) when their students apply for the Ontario Student Assistance Program.

It’s incredibly inspiring when a child grows to recognize what they are truly capable of and starts to believe in their potential.

CST’s partnership with Career Trek in Manitoba aims to help children and families along that journey.

Career Trek is a not-for-profit organization which helps young people discover the importance of education and career development, by offering hands-on experience with various jobs.

CST Graduate Scholarship Award winner Sam Tanenbaum

As a young child, Sam Tanenbaum had nearly everyone fooled.

“When I was in grade two, I had the vocabulary of someone who was in grade 10.  I could use words, speak and tell you rhymes and ‘read’ you books - but I wasn’t actually reading,” Sam explained.

"I have a non-verbal learning disability and I’m proud to say I am Dyslexic."

The rising costs of university tuition and fees

We hear it all the time.  “Tuition is expensive.”

The numbers prove it.  Statistics Canada has found in the past 10 years, the average university tuition has jumped from $4347 to $6373 - an increase of 46%!

That’s not the only post-secondary fee that’s on the rise.

Once upon a time, university was thought to be the ultimate destination in the pursuit of post-secondary education.

That was then.  This is now.  Times have definitely changed.

These days, students have many options for higher learning.  There are more programs and schools available and over the years, Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs) have changed and have become more flexible to reflect that.
